The changes include a student mask ban—unless for health or religious reasons, a revised admissions and recruitment process, and strict administrative oversight from a new senior vice provost who will monitor certain academic majors that, in the past, had provided anti-Semitic instruction. The university will also conduct an immediate review of its Middle Eastern studies department. The campus public safety staff is being increased to better handle disruptive situations, and the "intellectual diversity" in the faculty will be expanded.
"We have worked hard to address the legitimate concerns raised both from within and without our Columbia community, including by our regulators, with respect to the discrimination, harassment and antisemitic acts our Jewish community has faced in the wake of October 7, 2023," a policy memo read. (More) | Trump Says Not Sharing China War Plans With Musk, Citing Business Conflicts President Donald Trump dismissed media reports regarding a planned briefing for Tesla CEO Elon Musk about a potential military conflict with China, saying he won't show such intelligence to the businessman or anyone else.
Musk attended a morning meeting at the Pentagon on Friday that went for about 80 minutes. The New York Times cited two anonymous U.S. officials who said Musk would receive a classified briefing with top military officials about the U.S. plan for any war with China. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Musk both denied the claim. Trump said that he immediately called his chief of staff, Susie Wiles, and Hegseth upon seeing the news report to check if there was any truth to the story, and the two described it as "ridiculous."
Trump on Friday called the report a fake story. "I don't want to show it to anybody," he told reporters at the Oval Office. "We don't want to have a potential war with China, but I can tell you, if we did, we're very well equipped to handle it." In February, consumer interest in new Tesla vehicles fell to 1.8 percent, marking the lowest level since October 2022. The report noted this is a significant drop from the 2024 peak of 3.3 percent recorded in November. Edmunds defines consumer interest as website visitors engaging with vehicle photos, reviews, inventory listings, or submitting inquiries to dealerships.
The declining interest is notable even among shoppers who initially consider other brands. Edmunds reported a decrease in "reverse cross-shopping," a metric reflecting consumers who start their search with competitors but eventually consider Tesla.
