RFK Jr Has Taken Aim at These Food Additives. What Can He Do About Them? "Americans are being poisoned," former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. repeated throughout his campaign. He linked the nation's poor diet to rising health care costs for chronic diseases and shorter lifespans.
Now nominated as Secretary of Health and Human Services under the Trump administration, Kennedy will oversee 80 percent of the country's food supply, as well as all cosmetics, drugs, and pharmaceutical products.
Kennedy has primarily scrutinized several key food ingredients, including high fructose corn syrup, seed oils, and food dye. What is the evidence, and what can he possibly do to exclude them from the American diet? Our colleague, Marina Zhang, explores the question in depth. |
The New York Times Plans Another Attack on Shen Yun Performing Arts The New York Times is preparing to again attack New York-based performing arts company Shen Yun and the spiritual discipline Falun Gong, The Epoch Times has learned.
For nearly two decades, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has targeted Shen Yun, whose mission is to revive traditional Chinese culture. The company was founded in 2006 by practitioners of Falun Gong, a peaceful meditation practice whose adherents are severely persecuted by the CCP. Falun Gong practitioners have for 25 years highlighted abuses they face in China, including kidnapping, torture, and being murdered by the regime, which then often profits from selling their organs. Shen Yun in its performances depicts some of these atrocities.
Outside of China, the CCP has used tactics both aggressive and subtle to suppress Falun Gong, from physical attacks, to diplomatic pressure, to infiltrating and utilizing Western media organizations to do its bidding. Efforts by The New York Times, which has published four articles targeting Shen Yun and Falun Gong since August, with another one in the works, appear to hew closely to Beijing's efforts. The premise of the articles also lines up with a newly implemented CCP strategy. (Full Story) |
Meet the Green Beret Behind North Carolina's 'Redneck Air Force' Adam Smith jumped into action when Hurricane Helene threatened his family. Now he's helping others rebuild. Smith, a former U.S. Army Green Beret, spent 17 years conducting military operations around the globe in defense of his country. He never expected to need those skills to save his family.
"I don't think anything can prepare you for the thought of losing your child," Smith told our colleague, Samantha Flom, one month after Helene touched down as a Category 4 hurricane in Florida and barreled on toward the unsuspecting mountain communities of western North Carolina. "Nobody really, truly understands the devastation that's happened on the ground until you come and drive and see it," Smith said. "There are towns that are literally gone, swept off the face of the earth."
The volunteer rescue operation born in those first chaotic days came to be known locally as the "Redneck Air Force" as they searched for trapped survivors in the mountains. Here's their story. How did you enjoy today's Morning Brief? Tell us what you think here. |

| Love and Duty | In Richard Lovelace's 17th-century poem "To Lucasta, Going to the Wars," the poet paints a portrait of a man who must leave his beloved to fight in a war. Instead of despairing over being torn from her, he's convinced that his devotion to love and duty is complementary.
Can one truly honor love without first honoring duty? In just three short stanzas, Lovelace's poem captures the timeless tension between the heartache of leaving a beloved behind and the desire to serve a cause greater than oneself. The speaker's message to his lover is clear: His commitment to honor enhances rather than diminishes his devotion to her.
Through clever use of language and religious allusions, Lovelace paints a portrait of a knight who sees duty, love, and honor as harmonious pillars of life, not competing forces. Lovelace's work offers a poetic reminder of what it means to love wholeheartedly while answering a higher call. | | |
