Nationwide 'Tesla Takedown' Demonstrations Bring Out Protesters, Counter-Protesters

About 10 protesters gathered across the street from a Tesla showroom in Austin, Texas, after noon on Saturday to criticize the company's CEO. The demonstration was one of hundreds organized across the United States as part of the nationwide "Tesla Takedown" protest. The action takes aim at Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who, along with leading a range of business ventures, is also a senior adviser to President Donald Trump and the Department of Government Efficiency.

Organizing the nationwide protest of Musk and DOGE is a nonprofit that supports left-progressive causes called the "Action Network." The Action Network website states, "Elon Musk is destroying our democracy, and he's using the fortune he built at Tesla to do it."

The technologist recently purchased a $35 million property in Austin, a deep blue enclave of Travis County, for his family. Passenger Plane and Air Force Jet Divert to Avoid Collision at Reagan National

A passenger plane and an Air Force jet were forced to divert course to avoid a mid-air collision near the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport just outside of Washington, D.C.

Delta Air Lines Flight 2983 was cleared for takeoff on March 28 at about 3:15 p.m. At the same time, four U.S. Air Force T-38 Talon aircraft were inbound for a flyover at Arlington Cemetery, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement. When one of the Air Force aircraft was getting close to the Delta plane, air traffic controllers issued instructions to both aircraft to divert course in order to avoid a collision.

A recording of air traffic control communications suggested that the Air Force jet was just 500 feet below the Delta plane after the two successfully diverted course. The Airbus A319 with 131 passengers, two pilots, and three flight attendants. The close call comes less than two months after a passenger plane collided with an Army helicopter at the same airport, killing all 67 on both aircraft. (More)

Burma Quake Deaths Toll Passes 1,600

The Burmese military junta said that as of Saturday, the death toll of the March 28 earthquake had risen to over 1,600.

Burma (also known as Myanmar) was hit by a magnitude 7.7 earthquake on Friday, causing widespread destruction, particularly in Mandalay city, where many buildings collapsed. The junta warned that the numbers could further increase as search and rescue operations continue. Burmese junta leader General Min Aung Hlaing has since invited "any country or organization" to provide assistance.

The quake also affected neighboring Thailand, which has revised its initial report of 10 deaths to six. Thai authorities said 22 were injured, with 101 others still missing at construction sites in Bangkok. The United States Geological Service's predictive modeling estimated the death toll could exceed 10,000 in Burma. (More)
