Rubio made stops in Panama, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic. The trip was Rubio's first since taking office and as President Donald Trump's administration seeks to increase border security, deport illegal immigrants, and bolster U.S. ties in the Western Hemisphere.
After meeting Rubio, Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo announced his country had agreed to a 40 percent increase in the number of deportation flights from the United States to his country as part of a Safe Third Country agreement. The White House has designated Musk a special government employee. Under the order, only those working at the Bureau of Fiscal Services and have passed background checks may access those records in order to do their job. The closure order affects live bird markets in New York City, Westchester County, and Long Island suburbs. It requires markets to sell their current inventory, perform thorough cleaning and disinfection, and remain closed for at least five days before reopening, according to the governor's office.
