Balbi, G., & Moraglio, M. (2016). A Proposal to Hybridise Communication and Mobility Research Agendas. In S. Fari & M. Moraglio (Eds.), Peripheral flows: A Historical Perspective on Mobilities between Cores and Fringes (pp. 10-27). Newcastle-Upon-Tyne: Cambridge Scholars Publishing.

This paper aims to revisit the state of the art of communication and transport studies in order to gain a better understanding of their relations. To do so, we will challenge certain self-evident facts regarding transport and communication, analysing the existing affirmations which are never, or very seldom, openly assessed or debated. In sum, we stress how in accordance with their historical precedents, communication and transport are enmeshed to the point in which it is difficult to differentiate between the two. In our eyes, any enquiry requires a different theoretical approach to the...

Playing Chess, Not Checkers: Russian Responses to US Hegemony in Kind, by Logan Wilde, Modern Diplomacy - Russia, May 26, 2016

Few would argue that Russia's recent display of military assertiveness, in both its hybrid confrontation in Ukraine and recent intervention in Syria, is antithetical to its proposed self-image as a regional power. This is largely the basis of Emil Aslan Souleimanov's article explaining how Russia is using the threat of the Islamic State to attempt to reinstate political-military hegemony throughout the former Soviet states. But Souleimanov missed the broader aspect of Vladimir Putin's true motivations in the Middle East and throughout the Caucasus: countering perceived U.S. and NATO...

The Mighty Have Fallen: American Space Dependency on Russia, by Nenad Drca, Modern Diplomacy - Space, May 27, 2016

It is concerning to the US to heavily depend on Russia, at the moment still under sanctions for interfering in Ukrainian unrest. Thus it seems imperative that this situation needs to change for the long-term benefit of the American space program. In order to be ready for future conflicts, which may include space, US armed forces need to rely on space technology such as GPS, communication satellites, and intelligence gathering equipment.

Two Years of Modi Sarkar-Broken Promises: Sectarian Agenda

The performance of the Modi Government during last two years has to be seen in the light of the promises made in the electoral campaign and on the barometer of values of Indian Constitution of pluralism and diversity. Acche din had become a buzzword, black money being retrieved and being deposited in everybody's bank account was looked forward to and anticipation of creation of jobs got registered in people's mind. None of this came through. Prices of essential commodities started shooting the sky, of all the things even dal (pulses) started becoming a luxury item. Fifteen lakhs is nowhere...

The anthropological approach to understanding violence in the Middle East

This essay intends to explore how anthropology understands violent relationships between the elite and oppressed, and it's subsequent study in the Middle East region. This essay argues that violence is a broad, changing and nebulous category of human action that is expressed and best studied through the investigation of power relations and exertions of power. Furthermore, this essay suggests

A Model for Assessing and Mitigating Knowledge Sharing Risks in Agile Software Development

We present an empirically-grounded and theoretically-informed model for the assessment and mitigation of risks to effective knowledge sharing in agile development. The model is anchored in empirical insights from four agile projects across two software companies and in extant research on risk-strategy analysis and knowledge sharing in software development. We develop the model as part of the long-standing tradition of presenting risk management models dedicated to specific issues in software development and confirm its practical usefulness in one of the software companies studied. The model...

Photocatalytic behaviour of ZnS and ZnO nanoparticles and their mixture

ZnS and ZnO nanoparticles and their mixture have been synthesised using wet chemical approach. ZnS and ZnO were prepared by adding sodium sulphate and sodium hydroxide respectively to the solution of zinc acetate in the presence of polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP). ZnS/ZnO nanoparticles were prepared in equimolar ratio by adding both sodium sulphate and sodium hydroxide to zinc acetate. The formation of nanoparticle was observed from the change of clear solution to milky white translucent solution. The nanoparticles were filtered off from the solution and used in powder form. The structure,...
